Any places where I can do our laundry MYSELF?

We%26#39;re at Sanur for a couple of weeks in March before arriving in Ubud, so I%26#39;ve also posted this query on that forum too (for those of you who frequent both and think you%26#39;ve seen this before). In Ubud, my husband and I will be staying at Saren Indah.

I%26#39;d rather do laundry myself at a laundromat than turning it over to others to do (OK, I know to wash the delicates in a sink, and I know I%26#39;m on vacation, but hope you won%26#39;t rag me and help me out anyway ;-) I dislike incendiary dryers and who can afford to have anything shrink when you%26#39;re on vacation eating all the yummies!

In some countries (like Thailand and Mexico), even laundromats that were NOT self-serve let me do a load or two myself, so keep that in mind if you have ideas for where I might go.

Hmm, no replies yet. Are you all just turning your clothes inside out half-way through your stay in Ubud, LOL?

No, it%26#39;s just that the last thing I want to do in Bali is waste time sitting in a laundromat.:)

I wash my own underware and sometimes singlet tops in the sink, but am quite happy to take a load to the local laundry every few days. There are some who will NOT put in dryer if you ask, otherwise you make sure you don%26#39;t hand over good linen or cotton that will shrink.

I don%26#39;t know about Sanur, but in Legian, Kuta, Tuban you will see laundromat signs a lot. I remember a few years back I was going to do my own laundry and then it only cost an extra 20,000rp for them to do it, so I left it no problems. Last year we had a little old man do our laundry in Legian. He washed, air dried, ironed, folded and wrapped our clothes. They came back smelling so beautiful!

I would just ask around, I%26#39;m sure you will find someone who will let you do it yourself. But if you ask them if they air dry and don%26#39;t hand over any delicates, I would pay for someone else to wash!!

Good luck, hopefully someone knows of a good laundromat in Sanur/Ubud.

Quite honestly LQ I have never seen anywhere where you can do your own laundry in Bali. But I guess I%26#39;ve never been looking for it either. I do remember that I saw 1 hotel somewhere that advertised that it has a laundry room for guests but for the life of me I can%26#39;t remember where or when. I just remember thinking to myself ';wow, I bet that room never gets used......';

Hi Whinnie

Wouldn%26#39;t have been the Bali Hai Hotel, Tuban. They had a laundry room and you were able to wash, dry and iron your own clothing.

Cheers

Burns

May well have been Burns, yes. I honestly can%26#39;t remember.

The laundries are seriously cheap and good. Where I go in Ubud a mans shirt is approx 800rp, shorts 850rp, jocks 600rp. Three days washing is usually less than 10,000rp. My partner still does her smalls in the bathroom basin.

Cheers,

David
