Hi going to bali in June 2009, and was wondering what is the best and cheapest site to book airfares and accommodation. We were in bali October 2008 for three weeks and booked through travel agent, but was thinking it might be cheaper to book over the net.thanks

Lots of people from Wollongong here recently! For accomodation, I use a combination of either Agoda, Asiarooms or Bali Discovery. Each have their own good and bad points which has been discussed before.
For flights, I usually book direct with airlines, which for me is Singapore Air, Thai Air, Malaysia Air etc. As you%26#39;re in Aus, you probably have other airlines which hopefully your fellow countrymen/women will be able to enlighten you on.

From reading this TA site it sounds like a lot of Australian travel agents charge hotels by the person rather than by the room. It might be worthwhile to check the prices with an agent like Flight Centre but then contact the hotel directly to find a cheaper price. If there are a few of you it might be worth having a villa instead of a hotel and there are plenty of recommendations on this board depending on where you want to stay. Contacting the owners directly through their websites (check out www.vrbo.com) will save some money overall. As for flights from Australia I would imagine JetStar and Virgin-Blue/Pacific Blue are the cheapest (this is probably not news to you) and some of the folks that post here have been kind enough to post some of the special flight sales that have been ongoing. Sounds like you have to be careful with their luggage allowance. Best wishes for a great holiday!
I have justed booked flights on-line with Jetstar for April school holidays, I got return flights for $550 each from Perth. I contacted a few hotels that appealed to me via their websites, got the best prices and booked 5 nights accomodation plus breakfast at very good beachfront hotel in Legian for total Au$300. It%26#39;s worth doing your research and shopping around.
Cheers
Deb
I%26#39;ve used Expedia (have to pay the full amount when you book)Hotels.com, Octopus travel and a few others for heaps of hotels all over the world and never had a problem with any of them.
The only thing I would warn about is read the sites rules and policies. If they can give you a confirmed booking straight away, all is ok. If they can%26#39;t confirm the booking and require a couple of days to do so, use another site. If they can%26#39;t confirm straight away it means that they haven%26#39;t bought access to the rooms from the hotel itself and they have to confirm with the hotel that they have availability on those dates. If there is no availability, the site has your money and then tries to swing you to another hotel instead so they dont%26#39; have to refund your money.
We booked our flights with Virgin when they first started to fly to Bali we got two return flight for $700 and Hotel with breakfast for 17 days for just over $600 so all up it will cost us $1300 we leave on friday I can%26#39;t wait.
definately book now. go onto jetstar for direct flights from syd to dps. they have sale on right now.
also i find booking either through asiarooms.com or direct with the hotel, do a deal. this way you pay per room not per person.
good luck, we are going in may.
Indojet are cheap at the moment or virginblue and if your interested in a villa its 150oz a night heres the linkhttp://www.sanityinbali.synthasite.com/
I use www.itravelindonesia.com . They%26#39;re cheap, I love their reviews and they can book domestic flights as well.
Hi. I recently had about 4 quotes from TA%26#39;s for August and ended up booking flights direct through Jetstar myself. Cost us $3050 airfare for 5 ( 2 Adults and 3 children 12, 11, 7) and I dealt direct on the internet with a beachfront hotel in Kuta that we all wanted to stay and ended up getting 14 nights in family room including b/fast and transfers for $1540. Had to haggle a bit but was well worth it. Saved approx $1900 on cheapest TA quote by doing it myself. Had to pay in full for the airfares and a deposit of one night accom with the hotel. So for a family of 5 to spend 14 nights in paradise for around $4600 was a bargain. TA%26#39;s prices ranged from $6500 to $8400 for exact same deal.
