Where to stay for the solo traveler??

Im heading out in late April for 3 weeks in Bali going solo and i%26#39;m trying to figure out where to stay? I%26#39;m 30yrs old so im not looking for anywhere too far out of the way but i definately don%26#39;t want a complete party zoo hotel either. Somewhere reasonably close to the action with a decent social atmosphere ..... any suggestions?

Where to stay for the solo traveler??

There%26#39;s really no perfect place to stay for a solo traveller, my advice is perhaps steer clear of the very family oriented places.

The Kumala Pantai is good as it is not too big, but then you may not find many solo travellers either. The Jayakarta is large and has lots of families BUt I have also seen many solo females staying there and it is possible to strike up conversation. In the same beach strip is the Padma and Mandira and all of these hotels are ideal as they are on the beach and that is where you will find people sitting, chatting, having a drink particularly around sunset.

Hi KNVB13

I checked out Masa Inn, Poppies 1 and would be happy to stay there, if i was not already booked into Green Garden. Has two pools, larger one at the back of property. Does not have all the %26#39;frills%26#39; of the larger hotels, but clean and comfy and good location.

Two single beds approx $38.00Aust a night.(only room available at time)

Kuta Townhouses is really popular on the BTF so may be worth a look if it%26#39;s in your budget. There are so many cheap hotels(some not bad, some i%26#39;d give them a miss) around i had a look at a few on Monday when i arrived,as young guy sitting in same row on plane needed somewhere budget.

We usually stay at Kumala Pantai, have also stayed at Puri Raja, enjoy the location of both, back in Tuban again, happy with hotel(as above)and location is fine for walking in to Kuta.

Happy to play %26#39;travel agent%26#39; if you need help.

Hi,

a sister hotel of the kumala pantai is the grand kumala hotel. Its very close to a lot of the action and clubs near jalan 66. It is less of a family oriented hotel and (although a few years since my last stay) it had a very young backpacker/young adult clientele, young couples etc but was no party zoo. Its a very good basic hotel for the price charged. It also has an excellent breakfast. The rooms are clean, comfortable, nice balcony (deluxe room) and friendly helpful staff. I am certain you wont go wrong here and its only 5 minutes from the beach and also close to the other hotels mentioned by Linda

with 3 weeks it would be a good idea to stay in more than one area. what other interests do you have, what kind of things do you want to see and do in bali??? also what is your budget per night? the smaller budget hotels are good choices if you want to start up conversations with the local staff and they will often help you out and suggest where to go and what to see. you can make some good friends with the locals this way. kuta has a lot of homestay and cheaper hotels where singles / back packers stay. legiain and tuban are on either side of kuta and quieter yet close to all the action. you then have more relaxed tourist areas like sanur and ubud. still offering a great place to stay but not offering the kuta night life but some bars for entertainment and in the case of ubud you can see cultural dances at night time IF you like that sort of thing. after these areas you can discover quieter places like Amed, candi dasa and perhaps lovina, or get a boat to nusa lembongan the latter are further out of the way but given bali is a small island still within approx 3 hours of kuta so you have a choice of maybe spending a couple of nights IF you would like a change. with 3 weeks in bali personally i would suggest considering having some time elsewhere as well as kuta, your choice of course but just a suggestion. some people do not realise how quick and easy it is to get around bali.

good luck choosing!

going solo for 3 weeks, i%26#39;d move and stay around the island and throw in the gilis. wouldn%26#39;t worry about where i%26#39;d stay as there are lots of choices. party places are only in Gili T and the south of bali and it is easy to avoid being involved.

personally i%26#39;d keep the south (kuta/legian,etc) to a minimum it is so much more adventurous away from this area.

here is a list of places u might want to consider. they are all good fun, heaps to do, good food, good accomodation: some of the places are for surf, snorkelling/diving, mountains, chilling out, walking, climbing, local culture:

balian

medewi

pemuteran

lovina

amed

candidasa

tirtagangga

padangbai

bukit

ubud

kedisan

danau bratan
