Hi, looking for some advice on where to stay in Bali. Never been before so any help appreciated. Hoping to head there in August 2009
Youngish couple from Edinburgh, Scotland, looking for good beach, bars, eating places, things to do, a good old mixture to be honest. Just got back from Koh Lanta in Thailand, which was amazing!! and hoping that Bali is as good as we hear about...
Any help would be great.
Many thanks in advance.

If you give us a budget then we might be able to help with accommodation. Because this is your first trip I would suggest spending half your time in a beach area like Legian/Seminyak and the other half in Ubud in the countryside. That way you get the best of both worlds. There is so much to see and do in Bali - the culture is amazing, the people absolutely beautiful, the scenery drop-dead gorgeous, amazingly cheap and fantastic food, great day spas and wonderful shopping. I%26#39;m sure you will have a ball and fall in love with the Island of the Gods as much as I have.

Hallo bjagall
Have just visited Satriya cottages in Poppies 2.
It is sooooo nice.Checked out a superior room. Bathroom is large with seperate shower only, no bath. Room good size, grounds beautiful, pool excellent with pool bar. So quiet inside grounds and just minutes to the beach.Balinese style accom, not your %26#39;ugly%26#39; western concrete resort.

Ok first of all when we first went to Bali we went to a recommended 3 star and it was horrible BUT people say they loved it if you like backpacking it... Problem is, if you not happy where your staying all else seems bad, sooo we went and booked at the Kuta Paridiso and loved it it was like walking into heaven after our first choice... So if its your first time go somewhere really nice and next time, go somewhere you have seen that you like... Also we wearnt to sure about Bali when we got there but within 2 days we where hooked, and if we had our way we%26#39;d go every year.. Other suggestions is Bali Garden opposite waterbom Park, Seaveiw cottages, all these are in Kuta or maybe a villa in Seminyak http://www.sanityinbali.synthasite.com/ this villa is 150 Australian dollar a night, I think you might like Seminyak it has all that you like... this villa comes with a driver so you don%26#39;t need tranfers hope tis helps
villa is available from the 1st to the 8th of Aug 09 looked at the site but send an email they could have more
