hi i don%26#39;t know if you would consider this restaurant the ';best'; views etc but it is certainly up their with the best.

Try Murni%26#39;s Warung, it%26#39;s gorgeous, you can google their web site. Four levels down the valley. You can even ask for candlelight dinners. check out my photo%26#39;s, the view was from the warung. Not a lot of water cause it was late August. But still nice.

Far and away the best restaurant with astonishing views over the Petanu river gorge is CasCades Restaurant at the Viceroy Bali Hotel. Its just 7 mins from downtown Ubud and has what they call ‘contemporary French fine dining’. They also offer a ‘day’ menu which is much cheaper. Ask for what they laughingly refer to as the bunker. Its a covered outside table right on the edge of the terrace. Fantastic

Thanx for those suggestions......NOW !!!!!....to decide...its for my 50th....want it to be special/memorable.

There certainly seems to be a ';buzz'; on the forums about Kampung Cafe in Tegalalang near Ubud. From what I know of the locale and from all the recommendations, and knowing what else is about such as Indus, Tropicale Bale, Cahaya Dewata (arguably best view in Bali but maybe the most average food), Murni Warung (even though I spend a huge amount of time there when in Bali) I would suggest it would be worth a go. I will be trying it in last week of March so I can give you a critique if that is in time for your visit.

Cheers,

David

David ask to see the villas if they are vacant while you are at kampung Cafe. I do know that they are soon to start construction of a plunge pool for the villas, as well.

Oh and try a Lychee Pizz.....it%26#39;s a lychee cocktail. Yum.

Snooky, I am going to try Kampung Cafe for lunch or dinner later this month. Do you know if they have transport back to Ubud?

Cheers,

David
