Passport Question - Changed Name

I just saw that to get a Visa to stay in Bali over 7 days I need to have a passport that was issued more than 6 months before entrance. I have a passport but got married almost 1.5 years ago and still haven%26#39;t changed my name. If we travel in October, I%26#39;m running out of time to meet that 6 month deadline.

The US Department of State says that it is taking an average of 4 weeks to process applications. I%26#39;m concerned if I sent in my renewal this week that the final approved date would be past the 6 month prior date.

Does anyone know when the passports are dated as valid? From application date or whenever they finally make it through the process? And should I just do expediated service to save myself the worries?

Thanks for the help.

And if I submitted it in person instead of mailing it, would it then get dated per that submission date?

Passport Question - Changed Name

Hi Skcollins74....when you travel to another country your passport must have 6 months left on it. For example if you entered another country on 1 April 2009, then your passport must be valid for a further 6 months - it must not expire before 1 October 2009.

My suggestion to you is that you consult with a Travel Consultant immediately to confirm my advice.

I thought it was that your passport had to still be valid for more than 6 months before entrance not issued more than 6 months....or is it different for Aussies. I would check to see if you have the right information as I%26#39;m pretty sure you can still get a passport just before you travel and you will still be able to get your visa

Whew! I read:

1. Passport must be valid for a minimum of 6 (six) months as from the date of entry into Indonesia.

So I automatically thought that it meant 6 months prior. I was familiar with at 6 months after. Never been so happy to have read something wrong. Thanks!

I don%26#39;t think it really matters if you haven%26#39;t changed your name. There are a lot of people who are married but don%26#39;t use their spouse%26#39;s last name - I am one of them. I have never had a problem - just travel with a different last name to my husband and it is accepted everywhere.

make sure your passport last name and plan ticket last name match. If not, you could have major problems. My wife and I have gone through this twice in the last few months. We went to Brazil and Belize. Belize was no problems, we brought the marriage cert with us. Brazil was a problem. We had to have the ticket re-issued. The only way this is done is to buy a new ticket and have a credit with that airline. I used points so believe it or not I was able to change the ticket last minute and not have to use more points. Ticket and passport must match.
