Padang Or Bukit Tinggi?

Hi friends,

I would like to know which is a better place to relax, shopping %26amp; sightseeing? Padang or Bukit Tinggi. I have planned to vist there from 7 to 10 March 2009

Padang Or Bukit Tinggi?

Hi,

Without a doubt Bukittinggi- much cooler than Padang-lots of sightseeing to be done around the area, including Lake Maninjau, Harau Canyon etc.

Here is a set of posts written by an Australian woman who spent 3 months in the area in early 2006.

ECHO HOMESTAY at HARAU CANYON- not to be missed.

AND this fabulous report …blogspot.com/2008/08/sleeping-in-shadow-of-…

including the You Tube at the end- that is really something- the sounds really make one feel you are actually there as you listen- Pure Magic.

I have two maps- one of Padang city and one of the area incluying all the tourist spots you might like a copy of. Send me a private message with your email and I will send both to you in an attachment.

Padang Or Bukit Tinggi?

Hi,

I agree with Pamela. Bukittinggi is the best place to go to relax. Padang is a busy city with not alot to do for tourists apart from a gateway to Mentawai Islands.

I was in Bukittinggi in December and had a great time. I%26#39;ve posted up some pics and information of things to do here:

You may want to also visit Lake Maninjau which is around 1.5 - 2 hours by bus from Bukittinggi. Now this place is great for relaxing:

Have fun.

Hi Aza,

yeah pamela and scott are right, but better if you can make your trip itenerary like this for 4 days 3 nights, I know most people from Malaysia using Airasia morning flight from Kuala Lumpur :

Day 1 : Padang Airport - Bukittinggi

Day 2 : Bukittinggi city Tour - Harrau Valley - Pagaruyung - Singkarak Lake - Bukittinggi

Day 3 : Bukittinggi - Maninjau Lake - Padang Pariaman - Padang City tour

Day 4 : Transfer in the morning to Airport from your hotel in Padang

the above itenerary will use 2 nights in Bukittinggi and 1 Night in Padang

Hi Elvis,

Thank you for your suggestion. I wish to follow your itenarary. If you could recommend me which hotel to stay and are you a local people there? Or can you recommend me any trustworthy local guide to take me and my friends around for tour? Thank you again. Scott has given me quite a few numbers of hotels and I am still deciding which one to book. Most of the hotels are not available during my visit date. I am worried, air ticket has been booked.

Hi Scott,
