Labuan Bajo - Komodo/Rinca Malaria Info

I understand there is malaria on Flores around LBJ and Komodo/Rinca.

Would appreciate any traveler experience to that destination.

Planning a hop TransNusa over to there next week, but suddenly got concerned about Malaria.

The TA forum on Komodo has almost no postings.

In all islands east of Bali there is some risk of malaria, although it is minimal if you stay in the main cities.

We recently consulted our local practitioner on Java about malaria profylaxis or a trip to West Timor. She recommended Fansidar; it is the usual taken by Indonesians travelling east.

Fansidar is produced by Roche and contains sulfadoxine and pyrimethamine. You take a pill once a week starting when leaving up to and including a week after coming back. It may have some side effects, read about them by googling for Fansidar. If you get these effects, you should stop taking Fansidar.
