Best homestays in Ubud

Hello,

My name is Travis and I%26#39;m coming to Ubud around July-August for 10 days and looking at staying on a budget.

I have heard you can get homestays in Ubud very cheap. Any suggestions?? I%26#39;m looking at spending Rp50,000-150,000.

Are they very easy to find?? Is it just a matter of searching once you arrive?? What are the chances of getting hot water on such a cheap room??

Thanks in advance

Hey Thomas, I think it would be worth your while investing in a copy of the Lonely Planet as this is filled with heaps of info for all types of accommodation. I was in Ubud/Bali in January and I met heaps of travellers who treated the Lonely Planet as if it were a Bible...

As you are travelling in July/August, I would strongly recommend that you pre-arrange your accommodation as these months are High season and Ubud / Bali is heavily booked. In fact I would get onto this now.

Hi Thomas,

a great place at the west end of Ubud called Gerebig Bungalows. We stay there whenever in Ubud which is very often and love the place and the lovely family who own and run it. Rooms are from 125,000 to 175,000 and all have hot water, fridge, some cooking equipment and daily breakfast for 2 brought to your verandah. We first stayed there in 2002.

Google ';Gerebig Bungalows'; and you will find details. Let me know if you want Kadek%26#39;s mobile number in Bali and you can SMS her for booking or use their email. They have fairly good English language but not perfect, although their Indo and Balinese is pretty good :-)

We are back there from mid August with a group of about 8 and are taking 4 out of 7 rooms.

If you do contact them feel free to mention that David from Adelaide gave you details, maybe better price.

Cheers,

David

Thanks Princi62 and David,

Thanks Dave, a mobile number and email would be a great help.

Has anyone heard of a place called Rumah Roda?? Any experiences, likes or dislikes??

Thanks again and btw, my name%26#39;s Travis not Thomas haha

Hi Virgin,

The best homestay in Ubud? Have you try to stay at Nick%26#39;s Homestay? It%26#39;s a real homestay in Ubud. You will stay with Balinese Family compound and you will feel stay at your home. Any activities you can arrange there. It%26#39;s a lovely homestay. They have website together eith their sister hotel at www.nickshotels-ubud.com

Hi! I haven%26#39;t seen the accommodation I eat regularly when in Ubud at Rumah Roda. Very cheap and good Balinese %26amp; Indo food but basic. The restaurant is upstairs above ';Threads of Life'; textile shop. The accommodation is in their family compound and I suspect it is reasonably basic but that is only from outwards appearances.

Regards,

David

Hi we stayed in Rumah Roda last August we paid Rp 90,000 for one nights accommodation including breakfast. A bargain and the family are lovely. The accommodation was very good (we had spent our holiday at a 5 star hotel) we had a four poster bed with mosquito netting and our own outdoor bathroom which was basic but clean. They also have a water cooler where you can fill up your water bottle, which is how we got to find out about the accommodation the year before. The father is a great source of info about Balinese culture adn local customs and loves a chat !
