Has anyone ever stayed here? http://www.balihideaway.com/theHouse.html
How was it? Was it worth the price?
I will be in Ubud for about 2 wks with my DH and 2 kids (1yo and nearly 3yo) and would like a great place to stay that is more like a guesthouse than a hotel - i think the kids will need a home base, being so little.
Does anyone have any suggestions other than the Bali Hideaway?
Much appreciated!
Bali Hideaway
Oh, and we%26#39;d like to be in walking distance of some restaurants and markets, if possible! I think the Hideaway is a little out of Ubud, so perhaps not ideal for us.
But i really know nothing about Ubud, so any help would be great!
Bali Hideaway
I haven%26#39;t stayed there, though considered staying there for my upcoming trip this summer, but it was booked.
Here are my thoughts... though I am no expert. I%26#39;ve been to Ubud several times, but not since 10 years ago. However, I%26#39;ve traveled a lot with my kids, which are slightly older than yours (5 %26amp; 8). I LOVE the area where balihideaway is in Penestan, and this the area where we will be staying this summer. BUT, considering that you have a baby and toddler, I might be more inclined to stay in central Ubud.
balihideaway.com looks gorgeous, but it looks like it is a long walk to the road, and if either of your kids is asleep, this might be a physical challenge when coming or going. BUT, on the other hand, if you just want to relax most of the time in the home, it looks like a lovely place to chill out.
I also considered the Barong Resort on Monkey Forrest Rd. They have a 2 bedroom villa with a private pool, and it seemed more reasonable than many resorts with 2 bedroom villas.
Thanks Fabbakergirl - good points. You%26#39;re right, I think we need to be closer to things so it%26#39;s not harder than it should be!
Unfortunately i tried Kupu Barong, but it%26#39;s way too expensive for us - the quote was for US$320 - 410 per night! And we%26#39;re staying for 12 nights, so well over our budget!
We want somewhere we can hang out some days and the kids feel at home, but still with a touch of luxury for DH and I... we%26#39;re finally taking our honeymoon!
Any other suggestions?
Kupa Barong is different from the Barong Resort on Monkey Forrest. Though Barong might still be out of your budget.
We booked a private villa in Penestan which looks lovely, and it is near restaurants BUT it has many stairs to the street which I think might be a pain with kids as young as yours. http://www.vrbo.com/103402
What about Honeymoon Guesthouse? We used to stay next door many years ago, and it is very lovely. Also great food and kid-friendly.
Honeymoon Guesthouse and it%26#39;s sister property Second Honeymoon are my most favourite places to stay in Ubud and would be ideal for your family. The are located in Jalan Bisma, only a five minute walk to the main street. The guesthouses are owned by an Aussie ex-pat Janet de Neefe and her Balinese husband Ketut who with their four children, live on site. The guesthouses are magnificent! Amazing, tropical gardens, beautiful rooms with four-poster beds and marble bathrooms, balconies, tea anc offee making facilities, fabulous pools and great food courtesy of Janet%26#39;s restaurant Casa Luna (in the main street). Janet also conducts a world-renowned cooking chool from the guesthouse Casa Luna Cooking School and owns two of Ubud%26#39;s best restaurants - Casa Luna and Indus. I thoroughly recommend the guesthouses. You can email them at casaluna@indosat.net.id They also have a fabulous website, google honeymoon guesthouse Bali.
Unfortunately, Honeymoon was fully booked for the time we%26#39;ll be there :(
I think i%26#39;ve seriously emailed about 50 places! So i%26#39;m left with Kajane, Natura and Anhera... hard to decide between them. Any thoughts?
