Dances at Ullawatu

Hi ,

We have been to Ullawatu last year and saw the temple and mokeys and fantastic views .But we didn%26#39;t stay on to see the dancers on sunset .

We would like to take our daughter and her boyfriend to Ullawatu in May they have not been there before.

Does anyone what day and time the dances are on as they look really good in the photos we have seen ?Is it included in the cost to get in ? Does anyone know the cost ?

Thanks Sue and Mark

Dances at Ullawatu

hi, the dance is the kecak ramayana and fire dance. our group stayed on to watch during our last trip. best to get there to enjoy sunset then the dance gets started just after that. can%26#39;t remember what we paid as there was a large group of us but very inexpensive. the cost for the dance is a separate cost. maybe 50,000rp each ???? sorry can%26#39;t remember. our driver bought the tickets and met us after our walk to enjoy the view then we went and got a seat. talking of which they are hard benches and a little uncomfortable. the dance goes for a long time. there are 5 acts.

any public transport going There?

If i take a taxi fr kuta do I need to ask the taxi to wait for me until the dance over?

best to hire a driver off the street for say 4 hours this will cost about 200,000rp upwards (approx depending on where you are staying). if you do this you can enjoy stopping along the way rather than just go directly to uluwatu for the same price as a taxi. yes you need your driver to wait. there are places such as GWK cultural park, dreamland, jengalla ceramics and perhaps a stop for dinner at jimbaran bay for dinner / drinks on the way home. (you can gain more information on these places by doing a google search).

thanks.

how about renting a compact car?

bout 250000/day. self drive.

Is the road leading to uluwatu as pack as kuta.

any sign board along the way?

try to be flexible here and a bit of privacy.

personally i don%26#39;t recommend self drive in bali. i have been there a lot of times and still don%26#39;t hire a car and drive myself. the local drivers are good. they will stop where and when you want and suggest places to stop. given the lack of road rules and signs and bad conditions and the worry of police bribes, insurance, accidents etc it is far better to sit back, relax and let someone drive you around. drivers will sit and wait for you unless you ask them to walk around with you so please consider using one rather than hiring a car.

Thanks Snooky

Do you know if its on each day and what time ? Sounds like its around sunset which when we were in Bali last year is around 6-6.30pm.

Although in the photos i have seen of the Kecak dancers at Ullawatu it is still daylight when they are on .

I spoke to you last year about Sanur you live on the Sunny Coast like we do .

Thanks Sue

hi Sue, it is on every night that i know of. it starts just as the sun starts to set so it is on when it is dark and goes for some time.

yes i remember you, just a short drive away!

Just want to confirm, the cost is Rp50,000 per person. And you have to pay it separately - not at front gate.

I like the show in Uluwatu, because the Hanoman (the monkey character) loves to surprise people by suddenly come out from behind. Please watch for the wind. If the wind is quite strong, I don%26#39;t recommend you to sit in front on the direction where the wind blow, because in one of the scene they will burn something and the dust will fly your way.

In case you are interested, you can stop by at GWK on your way back to watch free show at night. But you won%26#39;t be able to see the magnificent statue clearly at night.
