No Thank You

Hi fellow TA%26#39;s

Could someone please let me know how to say NO THANK YOU with a big smile of course. Have got Tidak not sure how it is pronounced and Terima Kasih not sure how to pronounce. It is Tidak Terima Kasih for no thank you

Jan

No Thank You

thats it, tidak terima kasih (car see), said with a big smile.

No Thank You

The K in Tidak isn%26#39;t a hard k, the A is slightly prolonged with a soft K at the end. Teedaak.

The Terima Kasih is pronounced almost like ';terrymakasi';

The trick with it is knowing which letters have the emphasis or inflection. Have also found that each region has it%26#39;s own accent, so a word you learn from someone using their pronounciation will be corrected by someone else from a different region, even though it is the same word.

Another 2 that you may find useful are (and these are how they are pronounced, not how they are spelt, as this is how I learn)

com baali (thankyou in return) the li has a high, short inflection.

summer summer (you%26#39;re welcome).

I found this site very good if you have sound on your computer: …niu.edu/indonesian/…indo7days_fs.htm

Now all you guys who can speak this language fluently, dont%26#39; pick on me, I%26#39;m only learning and have always been terrible with languages....just ask my old frinch teacher.

That would be French teacher. lol

Or finch teacher?

Fringe teacher?

Don%26#39;t forget to roll your ';r';s.

Whatever you say, boss and tour leader!

h is silent

c is ch as in church

k is silent at the end of the word, usually.

good question; how to say no.

tidak terima kasih but avert eye contact.

tidak terima kasih but wear very dark sunglasses.

when dealing with %26#39;pests%26#39; it%26#39;s best to ignore.

And pronounce the ';h'; as an aspirated ';h';, almost like a ';ha';.

Tour leader?
