Just back report and bali belly!

Hi all went to Bali for 15 days and must say had a ball!!We took our 3 kids age 8,10 and 12

I have read this forum for 6 months gathering all my information so ';thank you'; to all you experts.

Stayed at the Besakih Beach Resort in Sanur and loved every moment. We had rooms 223-224 interconnecting bungalow types that were fantastic.

Breakfast was also good with selection of pastries, eggs, fruit etc made for you because i am not a big fan of buffet so I loved the menu. Staff were amazing and most guests are repeat clients.Pool was beautiful and very clean.

SANUR RESTAURANTS

Apa Kabar - Being my favourite. Loved the free pick up as is quite a walk. Food was superb and the chicken and cashew nut brilliant. Total bill most nights for 5 people with drinks were 220 000 rp

Jepun - Another favourite too and pick up service, meals maybe slightly dearer but not much.

Corriander - superb Thai food, again pick up and meals very cheap.

Warung Pregina - Food was tasty indonesian and the cheapest we ate at.

Wicked Parrot - a little dearer but if you fancy Shepherds pie or schnitzel go there.

Bonsai - To all you Bonsai lovers I%26#39;m sorry but didn%26#39;t really rate the food but milkshakes were good.

Aladins Cafe - Good service and food cheap.

WATERBOMB PARK

Kids absolutely adored it and we even did the 2 day pass, use within 7 days of each other. The best corn on the cob I have ever eaten and lovely crispy pizza.

The rides cater for all ages.

SAFARI PARK

Well that cost me 200 hundred aussie dolars for 5 people and wasn%26#39;t overly wrapped with it, Safari bus was good but rides were mostly shut down and I think animals were a little drugged.

ORPHANAGE

Driver took us to Makro first so we could purchase bulk veg, rice, flour.cleaning and bought things from Home too. What adorable Children, there were 17 children altogether and how they are happy. Orphange called Anak Anak and you can look up on the internet.

KUTA SHOPPING

I must admit I don%26#39;t like Kuta but the markets for knockoff t-shirts were alot better. My 12 old year son got a lot of Etnies, elemnt and DC tops for 30 000rp and he was rapped anyway. Found the Real Billabong shops expensive.

UBUD

Loved Ubud had a look up the Markets but did%26#39;t go to Monkey Forest as QLD Lady staying at Besakih got bitten on the arm and her son nearly on the leg but shorts were thick{lucky}

BALI BELLY

The next day my son was 39 degrees with acute stomache cramps and had the wonderful Doctor out to give him 4 lots of medicine. Now it was certainly more than the trots. Only cost 110 aussie dollars and worth every cent and can claim on Insurance.

We all had Yakult, rasberry juice, hand santizer every hour and he still got very sick.

To all you wonderful people staying at Besakih thankyou for making it a wonderful holiday, chatting by the pool and recommending dinner places and looking out for my 3 kids [just like you own].

Flew over and back with Pacific Blue and they were great for the price I paid.

I got back home Monday morning and my daughter and myself have balli belly, went to Doctor and she said most likely the plane flight back is where we got it.

On strong Bactrim and spasm tablets too.

That was our third time to Bali, first time Sanur. In between we went to Thailand. I do love Bali but the dreaded BB did spoil it a little whilst we never get sick in Thailand.

Thanks for reading and don%26#39;t check my grammar!!!!

Just back report and bali belly!

So glad you enjoyed your holiday and Sanur. Thankyou for the great restaurant reviews, they always come in handy and are ever changing.

Sorry to hear about your son%26#39;s illness, but pleased it worked out ok.

Have to correct you about you and your daughter%26#39;s illness, though, sorry. If the doctor said you got it on the plane then it is not Bali Belly, it%26#39;s a viral infection. Bali Belly is strictly foodbourne (or water) and can%26#39;t be passed from one person to another, it has to come from something you ingest.

Just back report and bali belly!

Thank you for all your great knowledge too.

We did the 12 20 am flight direct to Adelaide and just took over 5 hours.Myself and my daughter had pancakes and a coke at 8 30 pm before we left and the boys were not hungry, Landing in Adelaide at 7 am my daughter started vomiting and I had a temp already! Do you think that there is the cause. i%26#39;m not sure but i feel like crap and have to have a week off work. How fast or slow does bali belly take to kick in.

Thanks again, I love reading your posts.

Great report.

Were there many kids at the Besakih? Would the resort be suitable for a 4 year old? I know you said you were in the bungalows, did you see any of the other rooms by chance?

We were looking at the SBH but like the location of the Besakih better.

Many thanks

Hi

There was probably 12 children altogether, there is alot of older people staying there and i made some life long friends. I did see other hotel rooms and they were ok, not as nice as bungalow bathrooms etc. but not all bungalows were interconnecting. It was a real mix from 1 year olds, teenagers and mums and dads and older. you cannot beat the location and gorgeous staff. Ihave never encountered staff like that and i have travelled a little.

Email Besakih direct and ask for best price.

Enjoy your holiday

It sounds like it could have been the pancakes, it%26#39;s hard to tell. It can take up to 12 hours for Bali belly to set in. It is very rare for Food poisoning (which is what bali belly, is) to have an immediate onset. If it is immediate or really quick it means the food was really off and the bug is very strong. Most attacks will happen about 12 or so hours after you eat the offending food. It is just strange that you would have had 2 seperate cases of food poisoning in so short a time period.

And unfortunately you have probably got a couple of days left of not feeling well, but you should be gradually getting better as your body gets rid of the offending bugs.

There are just so many things going around these days it%26#39;s often hard to tell. And aeroplanes are breeding grounds for airbourne infections.

Really hope you start feeling better soon.

Really enjoyed reading your report, thanks for taking the time to write it. Sorry about the bb, that is the only thing that can put a whole damper on the holiday, at least you all didn%26#39;t get it over there, theres nothing worse than being cooped up in your hotel room dying while everyone else is out having a ball! Sue

thanks for the report. sanur is a great place to stay. the besakih has a lovely atmosphere and a great pool area near the beach.

how much were you paying per night for the two rooms? such a shame some of you got sick. i like looking around makro. there is so much there. i am sure the orphanage appreciated your donations. are you planning another trip?

Thanks for the report, I particularly liked your restaurant summary. I am one of the Bonsai fans, and love their Avocado shakes.

Sorry you all suffered Bali Belly, very unfortunate indeed.

Hi

we payed approx 70 bucks per bungalow per night and were rapped. I did book through my friend who is a travel agent. Absolutely loved Sanur and would like to go back but my eldest has horrible memories of Bali Belly. So might have to wait and hope he forgets. He did love it until he got sick.I love the smell, people, food, shopping and of course those hawkers on the beach.

Sorry that was aussie dollars with brekkie.

And the pool was lovely.
