hi all, our first stop on our bali adventure is a 3 night stay at the damai villas in lovina.

we would like to go on a day trip to singaraja.

we understand that we will have to organise our own transport from the damai and back again.

what i mostly want to know is if we organise a local driver as seems to be the only way to get there, will the driver wait around and take us back as we would like to walk around by ourselves and have a look around and not have someone trying to direct us to his uncles shop etc. or would it be best to try and find another driver to take us back to the damai again.

Book the driver for the day. After about one hour in Singaraja you will more than likely have had enough of the place. It is just a typical large Indonesian city.

The driver could then take you back to Lovina via the hills rather than the coast road. This will take you through smaller villages such as Selat. The views from some of these places is awesome.

It would be possible to visit both the Sing Sing waterfall and the hot springs during your day trip.

A couple of good restaurants in Lovina are the Tropis and also Jasmines Kitchen (Thai).

For a cold beer go to Spunky%26#39;s Bar, it is on the beach about 2 kilometres east of Lovina.

The location of Damai Villas is very good with magnificent views. Just make sure you have some reading material.

thanks for the info cempaka. after a bit more reading on the area, we will do a bit more exploration of the north with a driver.
