Dress makers

I am going to Bali soon, staying in Legian, and planning to get a Ball dress made. Any suggestions on good/bad places to do so? Quite keen to keep the costs down. Thanks :)

I%26#39;m sure you don%26#39;t want to know bad places, but I can recommend a good place I use regularly. Brisbane tailors in Legian, next to the All Seasons Hotel have fully professional tailors and can make dresses, suits, shirts etc. perfectly.

Try Annika%26#39;s - just google Annika%26#39;s bali and you will see her website. Apparently she does an excellent job from a picture. I%26#39;m getting her to do me a couple of cocktail dresses in June.

Yes try Annika%26#39;s, my friend had her wedding dress made there for an absolute bargain. Dress was absolutely gorgeous.

I have googled Annikas without success-do you have an email address?

Try Anika%26#39;s with only 1 ';n'; then I think you will find what you are looking for. Anika Tailor I think is what is being referred to in the above posts.

Hi

anika tailor is in Tuban, not far from Centro.

I have used Anika quite a lot in the past, and was always very happy with the price and quality of items made.

Last visit, January 2008, I had some work shirts made and was sadly disappointed with the greatly increased price (would not budge), the workmanship and materials.

The samples of materials I chose looked good, but the fabric was not durable. The previous shirts lasted over three years, but the latest ones not even twelve months.

I decided that I will not return.

May I suggest you look for tailors in the search engine and see if there are reports there of forumites who have had formal wear made.

Just another opinion

cheers

wendy

We have had the same experience as Wendy and decided a few years ago not to return to Anika tailor - my husband has a suit which was very badly made and I am about to give to Vinnie%26#39;s. I even took it back and they %26#39;fixed%26#39; it but it still is not right.

My suggestion for a ball gown would be to go to either Duta Silk in Denpasar or Alta Moda for the fabric as they have a great range of evening and silk fabrics to choose from. You will not be able to have a ball gown made by Alta Moda as they only do men%26#39;s clothes and womens %26#39;tailored%26#39; clothing. I have been given the name of a dressmaker for Ladies fashion by one of these 2 shops - her name is Lois Haliem - mobile phone number: 081 657 9557 or flexi phone: 0361 741 5555. This lady is in Denpasar. The name of the shop is ANUGERAH Fashion and it is in Jl Pulau Misol V111 No 2. I have not tried her personally but it is worth contacting her to find out if she makes this kind of dress - I think she does.

I hope this helps as I think you will find most of the other tailors around are not used to making ball gowns as it is very specialised. You could also ask at Alta Moda for the name of a ladies dressmaker - I am sure they know a few.
