Chez Bali Villa Seminyak

Has anyone stayed at Chez Bali Villa in Seminyak recently? How close is it to the beach %26amp; shopping facilities? Is the one bedroom villa nice spacious? Is the private pool nice?

Chez Bali Villa Seminyak

hi,

We came home last saturday from our travel in indonesia. It is gorgeous. Unfortunately we were robbed in our villa in seminyak, bali. The name of the villa is Diana. I would advise you not to stay in a not registered villa, for what happend to us was obviously a tourist trap.

And if you insist of going there, please don%26#39;t bring cash money too much and don%26#39;t bring valuables stuff with you.

I dont want to scare you, but this is what happend to us:

After booking a villa Diana (part of the Hotel Ratna Group)on the internet on BaliBagus.com we set off on a holiday in beautiful Indonesia. The villa was advertised as a secure and secluded accommodation for families. Upon arrival everything was as we expected, with 4 security guards at the entrance and locks on the windows and doors. The 2nd night at around 4 a.m. my parents woke up because of the many mosquitoes bites they had suffered, and immediately noticed that all their carry on luggage was missing from the room. Even though the doors and windows where closed and the security was suppose to make regular trips around the villa. We sounded the alarm and immediately called the security, police and later the consulate. After a very brief investigation the security %26amp; villa manager (mr I Gusti Made Dana) took us to the police station, in order to make a report. In our view the case could only be an inside job because of the very quick escape, the lack of response from hotel Ratna under which the villa operates, and the position and amount of damage at the window that was supposed to be forced open.

If losing all our belongings wasn’t tragedy enough the following only put salt in open wounds.

Upon returning to the villa after the necessary day of cancelling credit cards and sorting out emergency funds. We found nobody from the villa ready to speak with us, or offering us any help. Even the owner of the company to whom we spoke very briefly on the morning of the robbery and had promised us to come back later was nowhere to be found.

We initiated talks the day after that with the villa manager (mr I Gusti Made Dana) and the sales manager (mr Surja) to ask for extra and better security measures and compensation for our losses. Surely the company must have an insurance for such a terrible event? We found the managers not receptive to our reasoning. All “5 star” villa Diana could could do was to apologize and offer us free meals in the hotel for the remainder of the stay. Clearly the loss of all our valuables was nothing to the hotel and we asked to speak with the owner, maybe he would be able to understand. The managers would not bring us in contact with the owner, but on the 5th day after the robbery decided they could give us 20% discount on the villa as compensation. We couldn’t believe it, an offer of $ 600,- when our loss was tenfold. Before the managers had time to explain we walked off, then the offer was raised to 50% discount as we where leaving the villa. After deliberation, and talk with a local lawyer we decided to take them up on their offer, as we reasoned that some of our losses back is better then nothing at all. And a legal battle in a different country is difficult, time consuming and costs a lot of money. So we reluctantly agreed to accept the offer of us $ 1575,- The next day the managers gave us a letter signed by the hotel manger Mr Gusti that we would get the compensation on Monday the 14th of August. The Monday morning at 10 o’clock we agreed to meet at the hotel Ratna, to collect a cheque. However at the appointed time nobody showed up at the hotel and we had to track down both managers. The news we received from them astounded us they couldn’t pay the money! How was this possible? The general manager of the hotel offered us the compensation paper.

The reason was; “the owner didn’t agree on paying such an amount” this was the very owner we asked to speak to from the very first day. The same owner that promised to call us on the day of the break in, but was to busy playing golf. (the managers actually told us this)

We had to leave Bali that same day, without any money and with broken faith in the Balinese people, and above all with our holiday in ruins.

I would advise everyone never to make our mistake and put any trust in any of the staff of either Hotel Ratna of Villa Diana Seminyak Bali, from the sleeping security, to the lying managers and the absent hotel owner. In addition be very alert if you stay there because Villa Diana is either an uninsured, badly managed, and not very well guarded complex or a touristtrap designed to steal tourists money

So as you can imagine, i am trying to help everyone by posting the tragedy on the internet.

If you have questions, please ask

Hi Saffira

I%26#39;m really sorry to hear what happened to you - these incidents are always upsetting but even more so when you%26#39;re abroad and on holiday. Just a couple of questions. You say don%26#39;t stay in an unregistered villa but how would you know if a villa is registered or not. I looked at the Villa Diana site and it looks like a perfectly legit set up so how would we know? Were there safe boxes in the villa? Was the villa open plan? We%26#39;ve rented a villa for September and will definitely be extra cautious - the way things stand in Indonesia I wouldn%26#39;t be surprised if there was more immigration to Bali, more jobseekers, less employment, more problems ....

Hi Saffira,

What a horrible thing to happen to you! I%26#39;m so sorry that you had to experience that. Thanks for your warning.

However, could you perhaps cut and paste your post and put it under another title as it has nothing to do with Jacksherenow%26#39;s Chez Bali Villa post?

Thanks Jade...I also feel very sorry for Saffira but I%26#39;d still like to obtain some feedback on Chez Bali Villas at some stage

Saffirra : which Diana do you mean? They have Villa Diana which is a little bit out and surrounding by rice fields and Dyana Villa off the Dyana Pura Street.

Jacksherenow : Chez Bali isn%26#39;t that close to the beach, around 30 minutes walk or even more to Ku De TA beach. Shops are closer to Uma Sapna or Villa 8. The one bedroom villa and the private pool is nice enough, but not too spacious for my taste.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the feedback Ersano

Thanks for your feedback on this hotel. We have now decided not to stay and must admit we were enticed by the price and the photos. Can you recommend any other hotel in that area?

CHRISTI as this is such an old post, the information may not be current. I%26#39;m sure other TA%26#39;s will be able to help you with your enquiry if you let them know exactly when you are travelling, how many people, what you would like out of your accommodation and how long you are staying.

Cheers.

Thanks for your response. I have just started a new job and have leave over Xmas and New Year, but cannot find accomodation in Bali. Can anyone help?

We would like at least 3 star, Legian or Seminyak area. We do not like Kuta.
