Villa Agung Khalia

Hi,

We are planning a trip to Bali in May %26amp; looking to stay in Ubud for 3 nights. I have found Villa Agung Khalia which looks very nice. But, it doesn%26#39;t have air con. Does anyone know if this will be a problem? I know it is cooler in Ubud than the coastal areas but just wondering if fans in the villa will be enough.

Any help %26amp; advice anyone can give would be much appriciated.

We stayed there last August and we were very happy and actually surprised with the comfort of the fan cooling. The location is high enough to be cooler than the coast and actually it felt a bit cooler than downtown Ubud did. They have an open air design using screens so you feel fresh air day and night, and the screens keep the mosquitoes away also. It%26#39;s a great villa for the price.

Honeymoon Advice Late April - Mid May

We%26#39;re using Hong Kong as the base for our honeymoon in late April/early May, and are thinking about spending 3-5 nights in Hong Kong, and 8-10 nights somewhere else in SE Asia.

Any thoughts/advice/travel agent recommendations for a trip from Hong Kong?

Right now, we%26#39;re considering Malaysia, Thailand (east coast given the season), Vietnam or Lombok - main goals are a beautiful beach with swimming, access to good snorkeling, access to wildlife as well would be ideal. Luxury accommodations may be doable, given that it%26#39;s for our honeymoon, but it does depend on how much airfare and other activities will be.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!!!

As European coming off an international flight (Thai Airways) - how long should I allow for clearing immigration and customs and baggage collection.

I will arrive at 14.00pm on Wednesday and I was hoping to catch a domestic IAT flight at 15.30pm - to Lombok/Mataram. 1h30 is%26#39;t a enough time?

I would say that it%26#39;s not enough time, but it depends on whether you are going to get a Visa on Arrival which means waiting in line.

I really think you are pushing it. Sometimes it can take over an hour or more to get a visa on arrival and clear immigration. From my recollection the domestic terminal could be about a 10 minute walk with luggage from the international arrivals area. Given my own experiences at Denpaser in the past, I would find such a connecting time a bit stressful, but that doesnt mean you cant do it. A lot would depend on luck, and how many other flights arrive at the same time.

One solution could be to use one of the fasttrack companies who can assist with a visa on arrival for a fee. The name mentioned on some threads here is bali concierge. They might be able to assist you also with your domestic flight. For what its worth I dont think you are allowing enough time. Remember the flight lands at 2pm, by the time it taxi%26#39;s to its stand, passengers disembark etc and getting your visa?? sounds like stress to me, however by using the fasttrack people you could do it with a bit of comfort. have a good holiday,and good luck

Activities in Tuban

This is my first time to Bali and I decided to stay in Tuban Green garden beach resort for 3 days 2 nite together wif my wife. What are the must see-do things for first time traveller? Anybody can advise?

Green Garden is an excellent little hotel, good choice. There are no activities in Tuban as such, you%26#39;re only a 15 min walk to Kuta for shopping, and there are lots of spas around your hotel, including a decent spa at the hotel itself.

If you type in ';things to do'; on the forum search field, you%26#39;ll come across plenty of topics. Three days isn%26#39;t that long, I%26#39;d maybe consider a seafood meal on the beach in Jimbaran at sunset, a day visit to Ubud - see the monkey forest and stay for the early evening dance shows, or head to Uluwatu for the Kecak dance. Tanah Lot at sunset is also magical.

I have booked for an 8 night stay at this hotel in March this year. Nowi have read the last 2 reviews on this site and it has come to my attention.....

Should i book another hotel????? i am alarmed with the reviews i have read and just want to know peoples thoughts on this.

My stay is with my g/f. we are both 23. We are going for a total of 18 nights. 8 first up in Legian at the lokha, 2 nights at coconuts on nusa lembongan, and then the 8 nights at the patra.

A mixed bag of environments as i am givingmy g/f a taste of bali. If people have recomendations then please give, unless they are out of that price range.

I am starting to think it isnt the hotel in which i thought i booked for!!!! not 4-5 star anymore???

I haven%26#39;t stayed there but its right next to the airport....so will be pretty noisy and busy with planes flying in and out...just a thought :-)

you guys should check another hotel because i think patra is for an older crowd especially for 8 days..my suggestion is:

with patra%26#39;s budget you try hotel 4 days in Ubud such as the hanging gardens or the komaneka and try 4 days nikko hotel at nusa dua...believe me it will be a highlight of your romantic life...

lokha is a very good hotel by the way...you%26#39;ll love it..and great idea with the lembongan..

we stayed at the patra last october pricey by bali standards no shopping or entertainment close to hotel taxi ride to south kuta it is a little out of the way hotel grounds and facilities were quite good probably suited to older travellers

We have recently returned from the Patra Bali,Whilst the airport is on your doorstep, the aircraft noise really is negligible, you can see them land and take off from the shoreline but they certainly wont affect your holiday.As for 4-5 star it isnt, having said that it is v very nice, the rooms are massive, the service excellent, very clean, food great, but as a previous member has said not really for your age group, lots of families when we where there in February with very young ones.

Prices are on the expensive side sml Bintang 35000 orange juice 35000 plus service and taxes 84700 for two drinks !!We only had a drink there between 5-7 during happy hour, and even then the bars were empty The staff are also very reluctant to get you a bluebird taxi, we just phoned one ourselves, the hotel taxis are at least double what the fare should be even treble on the last occasion!!

She%26#39;s sitting in an internet cafe somewhere??? in Seminyak (i had my eyes closed on the ride here) about 20mins from Kuta, with Nyoman a %26#39;lovely%26#39; young guy from Cafe Batan Waru which is next to Bali Garden entrance and opp Waterbom.Can recommend it for a meal, their Nasi Goreng is yum!

I am about to help Nyoman with a new CV as he would like to apply for a new job.

I can relate to that, a few years back we booked a family trip to Bali but our boys did not want to go, so we went to Tasmania instead, have friends in Ulverstone.

Just look at it this way, i%26#39;ll be well gone from here by the time you arrive, and it will be me who is %26#39;green%26#39; with envy!!

Next time you are in Cafe Batan Waru try their Ayam Rica Rica - it is just delicious. You might find me there next time. Every time I go to Discovery Centre I go there for lunch and am never disappointed. There is one in Ubud too and they are part of the same group who owns Terazzo and Cinta Grill In Ubud I believe - all good eating places.
