Transportation from Airport to the hotel

I will be visiting Bali in a couple of day with my family. There will be 6 of us. We will be staying at the Hard Rock Hotel in Kuta.

I heard it is cheaper to take an outside taxi (not the airport taxi but those that lined up outside the airport gate). Are those safe?

you will have to walk out to the taxis you are referring to. they are %26#39;safe%26#39;. really you will not be saving much money. a taxi to the hard rock is cheap anyway so it would be more convenient to take the airport taxi. just turn right as you leave the airport door and there is a booking counter where you pre pay. there are also some drivers standing there who will have vans. these would take the 6 of you. just look for the price of the pre paid taxis and try negotiating a similar price for a van if you prefer.
