Bali or Lombok for snorkelling?

My wife and I are keen snorkellers but prefer off the beach rather than organised trips. We are looking at Bali or Lombok this November, any suggestions?

Go to Amed. We snorkelled off the beach, only had to swim out a few meters at Lipah Beach. Amed is a fantastic quiet, peaceful village. Do a google search.

there is good snorkelling along the east and north coast of bali. padangbai candidasa, amed, lovina, pemuturan

in lombok there is good snorkelling along west and south coast. - gili isles, sengiggi area, kutalombok area.

i take my own gear. in some places there is good snorkelling close to shore and at others it is worthwhile and fun to catch a boat to a reef or off shore island.

both places are good, though i think south lombok is the best i%26#39;ve snorkelled in.
