South Kuta/Tuban beach works?

There was a lot of beach construction work going on around the Bali Garden hotel when I was in Bali last March.

I beleive they were improving the beach and constructing a walk way along the beach.

Can anyone give us a progress report on this?

Has the walkway been finished and has the beach been put back in shape?

I stayed in Tuban in January. The walkway has been completed and looks lovely. In fact the beach area in Tuban looks cleaner than the main beach in kuta and Legian.

Regarding the walkway.... is it now possible to walk from Seminyak to Tuban along a boardwalk? Has all the work now been completed along the beach? Any photos? Thanks, Tracey

From around Jl Double Six beach end heading toward Legian Beach Hotel and Jl Melasti this is where the paved walking path ends.Cross over Jl Melasti/beach rd corner,and you hit the beach road, footpaths either side until you come to Hard Rock Corner/Jl Kuta(Kuta Beach Rd).Cross here to the beach and there was a paved path,(older) and around or just before Bali Garden Hotel you will start on the new beachfront path which will continue past Discovery Mall,all the beach front hotels of Tuban,Kartika Plaza,Ramada Bintang, old Bali Hai(new Holiday Inn)and to the Patra Hotel, not sure how far past this it went toward the airport boundary, but that%26#39;s about as far as you can walk that end. It certainly looks great, hard to remember how bad it was before (dodge the tide if walking along the beach into Kuta) and will now give you two walking options if staying down that end into Kuta, beachfront or along Jl Kartika Plaza.

Thanks Burns, yes that all makes sense and sounds like some exercise to be had when over there next. It might cut my shopping down some what if I am not walking along the shops... but there are always the beach sellers! Regards, Tracey

Hi. Thanks for the information and the photos. I%26#39;ll be staying at Santika (next to Bali Dynasty hotel) and am planning to have dinner at the Pantai Restaurant. Am I right in assuming that it%26#39;s now possible to walk along the pathway to the restaurant? Does anybody know how long the walk takes? Thanks in advance.

Before any of the readers get the wrong impression, the walk from Tuban to Seminyak is approximately 8km.

And yes, the beach is lovely now. Sori, not sure where Pantai Rest is.

Yes the beach pathway is lovely and now makes it a very pleasant walk into Kuta. I stayed at the Rama beach resort in Tuban and it took about 15 mins to reach Discovery Mall from there ; then about another 10 minutes to reach central Kuta. There aren%26#39;t much hawkers along the beach as you walk till you hit kuta so it%26#39;s very relaxing.

The walk way looks great-perfect for jogging.

The problem with jogging on kuta beach is that your shoes get a very sticky clay/sand like substance stuck to the soles and it%26#39;s not fun trying to remove it-well not any more!!
